Tobias Pfingstl

Mag. Dr. Tobias Pfingstl studied Biology at the Karl-Franzen University in Graz, Austria. After finishing his PhD, he worked one and a half years at the Institute of Ocean Sciences on Bermuda. He now works as scientific project director and external lecturer at the Institute of Biology at the Karl-Franzens University. He is a biologist focusing on the evolution of small arthropods and is now conducting various joint projects with Japanese and South African colleagues investigating the biodiversity of intertidal mites and the effects of global climate change on these organisms. In his latest project, his team is investigating the shape of claws of mites to find possible applications for industrial attachment devices.
